DINNER DANCE 2005
With a lot to celebrate, we decided to hold this year's dinner in the Cathedral Close Refectory, spectacularly set beneath the spire.
Fantastic view of the Cathedral |
The dinner was, as usual, beautifully organised by our Social Committee with entertainment conjured up by Fiona.

Steve did an upbeat speech reviewing a fantastic year for the club. The facilities project has gone brilliantly! We have had tremendous success! Having completed on our 99 year lease in the Spring, opened a new court in September, the new floodlights are due to be operational by the middle of November & the new club house now has a roof & is due to get some windows next week!
On the court, we have had our most successful year ever. The Ladies A team won the Hants & IOW competition for the first time ever. The Men's have been promoted to division 2 (another first), both Apsley & both Southampton Winter Teams won their divisions as did the Ladies B Team, the Mens Over 45s & the Sarum A team who were victorious in Division 1 of both the Winter & Summer competitions!
John & Graham transported us forward in time to the 2006 Dinner & presented a very funny review of an equally successful year using a series of original and doctored photos. A lot of these were reproduced in the Riverside Calendar for 2006 which was handed out to everyone there. Here are a couple of the photos:

Nick finally won a singles title, even though it meant having to lie about his age |
After paying the last of the bills Philippa realised that the sinking fund had finally sunk |
Our president, Jim, then entertained us with a few jokes before presenting all the trophies.
Champion yet again! |
New mixed doubles champs. |
New ladies doubles champions..... |
and, one half of the new men's doubles champions! |
Mens vets winners........ |
...mixed verterans runners-ups |
